Principal Wendy Moritz

Wendy Moritz

I love to be a part of things that grow!

Hello!  I'm Wendy J. Moritz, principal at Harriet Bishop Elementary School!  As an educator for 25 years, I have served as a Spanish Teacher, Athletic Coach, and Administrator.

Children are the most incredible natural resource we have, and I am so fortunate to be here to support students as their principal!  Relationships and partnerships with students and families make school communities rich and successful so that all students achieve at high levels! I love being a part of things that grow!

I am equally passionate about professional development and facilitation of learning with teachers, building capacity in all staff who support our students!  I love being a part of things that grow!

When I am not at school, I enjoy cheering on children in sports, fishing, flowers, and landscaping.  I love being a part of things that grow!

We're glad you are here at Harriet Bishop Elementary School!  It is my privilege to support talented staff, amazing families, and incredible students!  I look forward to serving the Harriet Bishop Community this year!

All are WELCOME here!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!

Meet Our Assistant Principal

I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal of Bishop Elementary School for the 24-25 school year. It is with great enthusiasm that I join your exceptional learning community.

My name is Jill Ryan, and I bring a diverse background in education. For the past four years, I have had the privilege of serving as an assistant principal at Franklin and Montessori at Franklin Elementary, where I gained invaluable experience in school leadership, student support, and community engagement.

Before transitioning to a leadership role, I spent six years as a Technology Integrationist and Instructional Coach at Longfellow and Washington Elementary, empowering educators to leverage technology and enhance the teaching and learning opportunities in the classrooms. Prior to that, I spent four years working as an Implementation Associate for the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, where I helped facilitate the implementation of many district-wide initiatives. This experience equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of curriculum design, instructional strategies and assessment practice aimed to promote academic excellence.

My journey in education began as a teacher where I had the privilege of teaching both elementary and middle school students. These experiences provided me with a deep understanding of the diverse needs of students, educators, and families and a passion for fostering a collaborative environment where we all learn and grow together while students feel connected and supported.

On a personal note, my adult children are alumni of Rochester public schools, which is one reason I stayed in Rochester for over twenty years. I am blessed with three adorable grandchildren who bring immense joy to our lives. My husband and I share a love for adventure and enjoy traveling, golfing, and kayaking together whenever possible.

As Assistant Principal, my commitment is to ensure that students' passions are recognized and their relationships with one another are cultivated. I believe we are not only preparing our students for the future academically but also equipping them with the skills to thrive in an interconnected world. In line with this vision, I am dedicated to being innovative in our approaches to education and looking for approaches that address the whole child. I am excited to collaborate with the talented staff and supportive parents and engage the community to ensure that Bishop continues to be a place where students are inspired to reach their fullest potential.

I am genuinely looking forward to getting to know you and working together to uphold the traditions of Bishop Elementary.

Warm Regards,

Jill Ryan, Ed.S
